A brief history of Lubbock and The Law

West Texas Lawyers of the late 19th century were an itinerant lot, pursuing clients and lawsuits about the Plains like farm laborers chasing the harvest.
One can imagine how difficult it must have been to earn a living as a lawyer in a community in which perhaps only four or five lawsuits were filed yearly on the entire civil and criminal docket.
